Install fails about midway through the actual install process with an error "Failure while unpacking components!". I don't see a install log to review to give you any more information then that.

The data directory is created and set to a permission that doesn't allow me to browse it, this could be the issue.

I had the issue with both 2.9.10 and RC 3.0.

Is there a manual install process? I looked quickly but wasn't able to find one.

You may also want to check the minimum system requirements in the manual at "General introduction / system requirements"

Note: you may want to check PHP's memory_limit setting in php.ini. This usually is set too low if it is installed and used out of the box. Set this to at least 32MB or higher.

An automated check for minimum system requirements will be included in the final release. This hasn't been done yet, because I currently need to gather more information about configuration settings, php modules, specialties of certain operating systems and other issues that might have an impact.
If you find anything in addition to the mentioned requirements, please let me know. It will be included in the 2nd release candidate.
